Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Mexico City

Arrive Mexico City by early afternoon and check in at the Marquis Reforma hotel. Time permitting this afternoon, a tour of the Historical District and dinner on your own.

Breakfast at the hotel and an early departure for the city of Papantla, a place of extraordinary cultural inheritance and very much alive on its local traditions. Here we will learn about the Ritual of the Voladores de Papantla (“Bird Man”). Dinner and overnight at the nearby city of Poza Rica. (B L D)

visiting the archeological site of TajinDay 3 – Papantla and Tajin

Breakfast at the hotel and an early departure to the archeological site of Tajin, a great achievement of Totonac culture and one of the most important religious centers in Mesoamerica. Today you will become an expert on vanilla (Xanath) as we visit the vanilla sanctuary and test some of its tasty products. You will also experience a culinary delight of Totonac indigenous cuisine cooked over an open fire. Continue to Papantla, the “city that perfumes the world,” where you will have a walking tour and some free time for shopping. Return to Poza Rica for dinner on your own and overnight. (B L)

Today after breakfast at the hotel we will depart for Coatepec. Our first visit will be the city of Villa Rica. The same place that the conqueror Hernando Cortez landed in 1519. Our journey will continue as we climb from sea level to 1200 feet. At the city of Coatepec we will begin our coffee experience. Leisurely afternoon to visit the city enjoying the many coffee houses. Dinner on your own and overnight. (B L)

Hacienda de los RemediosDay 5 – Coatepec

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will visit the Roma coffee plantation and learn about the cultivation and production of coffee with a local expert. We will also visit the 400-year-old Hacienda de los Remedios and learn about the craft of processing coffee beans. Lunch today will be at this Hacienda and include traditional regional food. Back to your hotel in Coatepec and later this afternoon you will enjoy a walking tour of this “Pueblo Mágico.” Dinner on your own and overnight. (B L)

Cofre de Perote mountainDay 6 – Jalcomulco

After a leisurely breakfast, you will depart to Jalcomulco. En route we will visit the town of Xico located on the foothills of the Cofre de Perote mountain. A nice walking tour of this place famous for their arts, crafts, and food products. Early this evening we arrive to Jalcomulco. Nestled in a fascinating natural environment and with an English Safari lodging concept, Jalcomulco is Mexico’s premier ecotourism destination with many offerings in a stunning natural environment. Day 7 – Puebla

Enjoy breakfast before our departure back to Mexico City. Today we drive up to the high country on our way to the city of Puebla. As we go up to the Sierra Madre mountains, enjoy the beautiful landscape. Upon arrival, we will have a walking tour of the historical center of Puebla and a lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive in Mexico City by mid afternoon. Check in at the hotel and dinner on your own. (B,L)
