Every year after traveling more than 5000 kilometers from Canada to Mexico, several hundred million Monarchs arrive in the Oyamel Fir forest located on the highest part of the Michoacan mountain to begin courting and mating. Nowhere else in the world, do the Monarchs form these hibernating colonies before their return to the United States and Canada. Therefore, this place is considered a sanctuary for the butterflies that would otherwise perish if not for this essential Monarch habitat.
Tour Itinerary
DAY 1 México City
Arrive to Ciudad de Mexico and transfer to the hotel Marquis
Reforma. Welcome cocktail and tour introduction, overnight.
Day 2 – Mexico City
Breakfast included. Proceed to a Tour of San Angel and Coyoacan.
There we will visit El Bazar del Sabado and the Frida Kahlo museum.
Lunch in Coyoacan. Return to the hotel. Welcome dinner.

Day 3 – Valle de Bravo
After breakfast, we depart for Valle de Bravo, a beautiful town with
whitewashed stucco and red tile roof houses. We stop first at the
City of Toluca and visit the Botanical Museum with its beautiful stained glass windows. .As we continue our journey, we arrive at Valle de Bravo, lunch on your own and a visit to the downtown area. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 4 – Valle de Bravo
Breakfast in the hotel. Today we will have our first experience with
the Monarchs as we visit the Piedra Herrada sanctuary. Time for
lunch in the sanctuary. Return to Valle de Bravo for dinner and

Day 5 – Valle de Bravo
After breakfast we depart for El Rosario sanctuary, for our second
Experience with the Monarchs. High elevations and rigorous trials
require us to journey into the sanctuary on horseback. Then, a short, rugged hike will lead us into the meadows where trees and trails will be blanketed by hibernating Monarchs, setting the stage for a truly
once in a lifetime experience. We will enjoy a lunch box while in the park. Return to Valle de Bravo for a relaxed afternoon. Dinner and overnight. (B, Box Lunch, D)
Day 6 – Mexico City
We start the day with a relaxing breakfast before traveling back to
Mexico City. In route, we will stop for lunch at La Marquesa, a popular
stop located in the midst of a pine forest. We arrive in Mexico City,
Hotel check in , farewell dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 7 – Departures
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport. (B)
